Lorena, an airport service worker in Southern California became a U.S. Citizen in 2024

Congratulations to Lorena Sánchez, an airport service worker in Southern California, for achieving her U.S. citizenship!

Her main motivation for preparing and obtaining U.S. citizenship was the desire to exercise her right to vote, which she considers both a privilege and an important responsibility. For her, voting meant participating in the country's decisions and also having the opportunity to help her community and serve others.

Lorena's dedication to civic participation and her desire to contribute to her community by exercising her right to vote are an inspiration to us all. BSP is proud to support workers like Lorena who are building a better future for themselves and their families.

Before joining BSP’s citizenship classes, Lorena says that studying independently was challenging, as it required consistency and commitment. However, she joined BSP's Citizenship classes, and found the support she needed and highlighted how much the classes helped her reinforce her knowledge.

For Lorena, one of the most valuable parts of the classes was the confidence she developed in herself. She explained that her initial fear of taking the exam disappeared thanks to the clarity of the explanations and the supportive learning environment BSP provided.

She also highlighted the flexibility of class schedules as a significant advantage that allowed her to fit her studies around her other responsibilities.

Lorena acknowledges that she had some doubts about certain topics related to citizenship. However, she appreciated the patient approach of her instructor, who always responded to her questions and provided detailed explanations when needed.

In addition to the citizenship classes, Lorena participated in other programs like the Green Janitor Education Program and a Financial Literacy classes. She enthusiastically recommends BSP programs to others. In fact, she mentioned that she has encouraged several of her friends to join the classes, emphasizing the benefits she herself experienced.

Lorena expressed deep gratitude to everyone who makes these courses possible, recognizing the tremendous help she has received and the valuable knowledge she has gained in each program.
